2. Who we are
This website, www.statsorb.com (the “Site”), is operated by Stats Orb (“Stats Orb,” “we,” “us” or “our”). We are the “controller” (or “business”) responsible for the personal information described in this policy. This policy applies to the Site and to communications you send us through it.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, e-mail address, the topic you choose and the message you write, plus anything you choose to include in it. Please don't include sensitive information (for example health, financial or government ID information) in a message.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, our servers and security providers automatically receive and may log technical information when you visit, including your IP address, the date and time of your request, the pages you request, the referring page, and your browser and device type. When you send a contact message, we record the IP address and browser type it came from to help detect spam and abuse.
Information we don't collect
We don't require accounts, we don't collect payment information, and we don't knowingly collect sensitive personal information. We don't buy personal information from data brokers. The ratings, statistics and projections on the Site are about sports teams and games, not about you.
Categories under California law
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act: identifiers (name, e-mail address, IP address); and internet or other electronic network activity (pages visited, browser type, referring page). We don't draw inferences or build profiles about you. We collect them from you directly and automatically from your device, for the purposes in section 4.
4. How we use information & our legal bases
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to your message and keep a record of our correspondence | Contact form details | Our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries; or steps you request before entering a contract |
| Operate, maintain and improve the Site | Technical information | Legitimate interest in providing a working website |
| Protect the Site and our visitors — prevent spam, fraud, abuse and attacks | Technical information, contact form details | Legitimate interest in security |
| Remember your cookie choices | Consent cookie | Strictly necessary; legal obligation to honor your choice |
| Comply with law and enforce our rights | Any of the above, as needed | Legal obligation; legitimate interest |
We don't use your personal information to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Cookies & similar technologies
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We keep their use to a minimum and group them into categories. Strictly necessary cookies don't require consent; every other category is off until you turn it on.
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| so_consent | Stats Orb | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choices so we don't ask on every page | 6 months |
| so_af | Stats Orb | Strictly necessary | Security token that protects the contact form against forged submissions | Session |
| __cf_bm, cf_clearance, _cfuvid | Cloudflare (our network & security provider) | Strictly necessary | Distinguish people from bots and protect the Site against attacks; may be set only when needed | Session to 1 year |
We don't use advertising, retargeting or social-media tracking cookies, pixels or fingerprinting. Our fonts and images are served from our own server, so viewing the Site doesn't send your information to font or image providers.
Your choices. When you first visit, we ask for your choice with equally easy “Accept all” and “Reject optional” buttons. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with (also in the footer of every page). You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Site will still work.
6. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and we keep all optional cookies off for that browser — no further action needed. We also treat a browser “Do Not Track” setting as a request to keep optional cookies off.
7. How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers (processors) that help us run the Site under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only for our purposes — our hosting and network/security provider (Cloudflare), our e-mail provider (to deliver contact messages to us).
- Authorities or others when required by law — for example to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Stats Orb, our visitors or others.
- A successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of Stats Orb, subject to this policy.
- Anyone else with your direction or consent.
8. No sale, sharing or targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information, “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined in California law), process it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling. We have not done so in the past 12 months, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16. We don't use or disclose sensitive personal information.
9. How long we keep it
- Contact messages: up to 24 months after our last correspondence, then deleted, unless we need them longer to resolve a dispute or comply with law.
- Server and security logs: generally up to 90 days.
- Cookie choice: 6 months, after which we ask again.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of these rights over your personal information:
- Know / access — confirm whether we process your information and get a copy of it, and details about how we collect, use and disclose it.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete information we hold about you.
- Portability — receive it in a usable format.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising and profiling (we don't do any of these, but you may still ask).
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
- Non-discrimination — we will never deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower quality of service for exercising your rights.
11. U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws — including California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia — have the rights in section 10 to the extent those laws apply to us, along with the right to appeal our decision on a request (section 13).
California. This policy is our notice at collection: section 3 lists what we collect and its sources, section 4 why, section 7 who receives it, section 9 how long we keep it, and section 8 confirms we don't sell or share it. California's “Shine the Light” law lets residents ask about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing; we make no such disclosures. Under the California Online Privacy Protection Act, see section 6 for how we respond to Do Not Track signals.
Nevada. We don't sell covered information as defined in Nevada law.
12. EU, UK, Swiss & other international rights
If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR, UK GDPR or Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection gives you the rights in section 10, and our legal bases are listed in section 4. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office), though we'd appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
Visitors in Canada (PIPEDA and provincial laws), Brazil (LGPD), Australia (Privacy Act), and other places with privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct and delete their information, and may contact us to exercise them or to complain to their local regulator.
13. How to exercise your rights & appeal
To make a request, use our contact form and choose “Privacy request”. Tell us what you'd like us to do and which state or country you live in. We'll confirm receipt within 10 business days where required and respond within the time the law allows — generally 30 days (GDPR/UK GDPR) or 45 days (U.S. state laws), which may be extended where permitted. Requests are free of charge.
Verification. To protect you, we'll verify your request by confirming you control the e-mail address associated with the information, and may ask for a little more information if needed. We use what you give us for verification only for that purpose.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you. We may ask for proof of the agent's authority and ask you to verify your identity directly.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or by using the same method above with the subject “Privacy appeal.” We'll respond within the time the law allows (generally 45–60 days) and explain our reasoning. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General or data protection authority.
14. International transfers
Stats Orb is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for transfers of personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) or a provider's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions.
15. Children's privacy
The Site is meant for a general audience and isn't directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK, or the age of digital consent where you live). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
16. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the whole Site, security headers, protections against spam and automated attacks on our contact form, and limited access to messages. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you and regulators as the law requires.
17. Other websites
The Site may link to websites we don't control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is material we'll give a more prominent notice (such as a banner on the Site) and ask for consent where the law requires.
19. Contact us
